Conservative Treatments for Patellar Tendinopathy: A Review of Recent High-Quality Evidence

Patellar tendinopathy is a common injury characterized by progressive activity-related anterior knee pain. It highly prevalent in sports which involve jumping and changing direction. The aim of this paper to review recent high-quality evidence regarding the effectiveness physical therapy treatment patellar tendinopathy. Randomized controlled trials (n = 22) researching effects exercise therapy, agents, soft tissue techniques were included. results show that most effective. While eccentric commonly used, very promising tendon-loading programs are recently emerging. Extracorporeal shock wave dry needling, orthoses no more effective than exercises or placebo groups. Isometric isotonic exercise, strap, tape, kinesiotaping have short-term effect on functional improvement pain reduction, while platelet-rich plasma, extracorporeal long-term effects.
